Luxury chess boards and draughts boards, 3D printed in The Hague
Complete game boards with matching pieces, printed to order and finished by hand.
Never played before? Read the rules
For every game the rules are explained step by step. From setting up to the very last move.
A game that also looks good standing out
Most chess and draughts boards disappear into a cupboard once the game is over. Not these. We designed them as objects you leave out on the coffee table or the bookshelf, even when nobody is playing. The board and the pieces come as a set, so you can start straight away.
Why 3D printed
We print every board and every playing piece to order in our studio in The Hague, in sturdy and recyclable PETG. That brings two advantages. You get shapes you cannot make in wood or marble, and nothing sits waiting in stock. After printing we remove the support material and go over every piece by hand.
What you get
- Luxury draughts board with pieces. A draughts board of 8 by 8 squares, complete with 24 round pieces in two colours.
- Luxury chess board with pieces. The 8 by 8 board plus the full set of 32 pieces, in a finish that does the game justice.
Buying a draughts board: 8 x 8 or 10 x 10?
When you buy a draughts board, look at the size first. Our luxury draughts board has 8 by 8 squares and comes with 24 pieces, 12 per player. That is the same size as a chess board, and the board used for checkers in the UK and the US. A game is shorter than on a large board.
International draughts, as played at Dutch clubs, uses a 10 by 10 board with 40 pieces. We do not make that size. Our draughts rules explain the difference.
Buying a luxury chess board
A chess board always has 8 by 8 squares, so that is not something to worry about. The difference is in the pieces. Our luxury chess board comes with the full set of 32 pieces, printed and finished by hand, so you can start a game straight away.
Rules and set up
Never played draughts? Our draughts rules and set up guide explains how to set up the board, how many pieces you need and how to capture and crown a king.
Prefer chess? Our chess rules and set up guide shows which way the board goes, where the pieces start and how they move.
Delivery time and shipping
Because we print to order it takes a little longer than with a stock item. Both boards are above the threshold for free shipping, so you pay no delivery costs. If you want to give one as a gift, allow for the printing time and order in good time.
Care
Dust with a dry or slightly damp cloth. No abrasives, they leave the surface dull. Do not leave the board in a hot car or right next to a heater, because plastic and heat do not go together well.
