Description
Platy is a collectable shaped like a platypus: 5 to 6 cm, finished by hand and built from segments that move independently.
Is a platypus venomous?
The male is. It has a spur on each hind foot that delivers a very painful venom, used mainly in fights with other males in the breeding season. The platypus is one of the few venomous mammals.
A mammal that lays eggs
The platypus lives in eastern Australia and Tasmania. Together with the echidnas, they are the only mammals that lay eggs. Its bill is a sensitive organ of touch: under water the animal hunts small animals on the bottom with its eyes, ears and nostrils closed.
