Yuki the Baby Hyena

Yuki is a collectable shaped like a baby hyena: 5 to 6 cm, with segments that move independently, finished by hand. A young hyena is a cub; the names of other baby animals are in our list of baby animal names.

Does a hyena really laugh?

It sounds like it. The spotted hyena is also called the laughing hyena because of its giggles and laugh-like calls, which are among the most recognisable sounds of Africa. Spotted hyenas make many more sounds too, from growls to soft squeals.

How do hyenas live?

The spotted hyena lives in Africa south of the Sahara, in groups in which the females are dominant. It hunts mostly at night, alone or in groups, mainly large hoofed animals, and also eats carcasses. The species is not threatened.

Also from the savannah: Luma the Giraffe.

Collectable for ages 14 and up: contains small parts. Colours may differ slightly from the images.
