The house mouse
The best-known mouse is the house mouse: a pointed snout, large rounded ears and a long, almost hairless tail. It likes to live near people, which is why it is found almost all over the world. It has also been kept as a pet, the fancy mouse.
The smallest mouse in Europe
In Europe that is the harvest mouse, the smallest rodent on the continent. Its body is 5 to 8 centimetres long, with a tail almost as long, and it weighs 5 to 11 grams.
